The all-sky survey and pointing catalogues of ROSAT.
Abstract
The Röntgensatellite ROSAT has been in orbit for more than 6 years now. In total more than 3 years of X-ray observations have been performed using the Positional Sensitive Proportional Counter (PSPC) for the all-sky survey and individual pointings. Catalogues from both phases have been produced revealing more than 150.000 new X-ray sources. This paper will deal with the description and production of the various catalogues with particular emphasis on the ROSAT All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue (RASS-BSC), its content and some results of an extensive identification program.
